The Norht CANYON
This is a rare geomorphological accident, one of the world’s largest and Europe’s largest, consisting of a failure in continental plate with about 200 km long and 5 km deep. The canyon of Nazareth channels all the Atlantic ocean waves to the northern beach, with almost no obstacles, hence the formation of waves with sizes out of the ordinary compared to the ones in rest of the Portuguese coast.
